What’s the relationship between SEM, PPC, and SEO?

Search Engine Marketing, or know by some of you under the abbreviation SEM, comes in many forms. There is a total of 4 different services regarding Search Engine Marketing:

– Pay Per Click

This is a search engine marketing service, which allows the client to have his brand on the top page of a chosen search engine in the form of a advertisement. Whenever a surfer clicks on the ad, the client has to pay. That is what Pay Per Click (or PPC) is about.

Cost Per Impression
The CPM, Cost Per Impression, is as simple as the Pay Per Click service. it is meant to have 1000 advertisement impressions of one webpage. The price you pay is the standard for every 1000 impressions. For example, if we would charge you $5 it means that 1000 impressions will be taken care of. You want 3000 impressions? Then you will pay $15. It is that easy.

Search Analytics
To know whether your web content has the correct keywords, it is necessary to have an analytics done. The searching behaviour of prospective customers of your website are investigated on which words they use during the search of the brand across the different search engines. If for example your website is about travelling around the world but surfers searching for travel agencies search with the words “cheap travel”, “single travel” or “budget travel”, and your website content doesn’t have those words, then obviously people won’t get to your website. With a search analytics the words that surfers search with are determined and forwarded to the client so that the content can be adjusted.
